Mike Amis has been a civil trial lawyer since 1971 and Board Certified since 1983. He has tried, mediated and settled virtually every type of case which a civil trial judge would face in our court system. He has mediated more than 1,500 civil cases.

Mike Amis was one of the first attorneys trained as a mediator in Dallas, completing the Dallas Bar training program in 1989. He chaired that training program in 1991 and since then has served as a trainer of experienced attorneys and judges in mediation. He served on the original board of directors of the Association of Attorney-Mediators, and served as its president.

As co-founder of the American Academy of Attorney-Mediators, Inc., he chaired a seed group program which took attorney-mediation to Louisiana, New Mexico, Alabama, California, Missouri and Tennessee. He has helped educate the judiciary in Texas and these other jurisdictions and advised the courts in the implementation of mediation into the court system, and has served on the Council of the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable since 1992.

Amis is a frequent speaker and program chair for local and statewide mediation conferences as well as having conducted in-house training for the Federal Reserve Bank, FDIC, Chevron and numerous law firms. He also serves on the mediation panel for employment matters for a large national publicly-traded employer and the National Association of Securities Dealers.
