Charles Whitaker brings 40 years of business experience to his mediation practice. He joined Burdin in 2004. Experienced in both the transformative and problem-solving mediation models, he has conducted more than 170 mediations, many involving highly sensitive issues.
Charles was a pioneer in the growth of FM radio, serving as an executive and owner of broadcast companies in Houston, New York and Dallas. In 1979 he launched a communications consulting firm with a roster of clients that included major companies in the Dallas Ft. Worth area and nationally.
Whitaker is a 12 year veteran crisis counselor for the Suicide and Crisis Center of Dallas, one of the nation’s most highly regarded crisis intervention agencies, where he also helps train and supervise new counselors.

Charles won the 1989 ABA national community service award for researching, writing and co-producing “Don’t Forget the Children,” a video documentary that examined the consequences of child custody lawsuits. The video became a landmark mediation tool in child custody cases nationwide.
Charles shared the award with the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, film-maker Bill Rogers, and the Hon. Merrill Hartman. “Don’t Forget the Children” is still in use in many courtrooms across the United States.
